Hi, I’m Neera.
I’m a mother, and I run a family business. Dear Arrival is the project I’ve been wanting to start for a long time — a place that takes baby gifts seriously, because what we give to a new baby matters more than the cards we send to celebrate them.
Most baby gift guides online aren’t really gift guides. They’re lists of whatever’s trending, or whatever the writer received as a free sample. The same items appear on every site. Half the recommendations are products no real parent would buy twice. Gift-givers deserve better than that, and so do new parents.
I started Dear Arrival to do this differently.
A belief that runs underneath everything here
Everything important in the world is connected back to children. People work to provide for their families. They look forward to becoming parents. New parents are the people setting the next decade’s habits and traditions. Babies are, quite literally, the future. So when someone we love welcomes a new baby, the gift we bring shouldn’t be an afterthought. It should be the most thoughtful thing we give all year.
How I pick what to recommend
Every product covered on this site meets at least one of these tests:
- It’s something I used or wish I’d had as a parent
- It solves a specific, common problem in the first months — sleep, feeding, soothing, the trip home from the hospital, those long first weeks
- It’s safe — meaning it meets US safety standards for children’s products (CPSIA-compliant where applicable)
- It comes from a brand that stands behind its products with a real return policy and responsive customer service
I keep recommendations short. If everything is the “best,” nothing is. I’d rather give you three excellent options than thirty mediocre ones.
Editorial independence
Dear Arrival is part of a family business — independent, not owned by a larger publisher, and not paid to feature any brand. Brands cannot pay to be included in a guide. Some links on the site are affiliate links (more on that below), but no commission rate has ever changed what I recommend.
Who Dear Arrival is for
Mostly: the gift-givers. The aunts, uncles, grandparents, coworkers, friends, and friends-of-friends who want to show up at a baby shower with something the new parents will actually use — and feel good about what they brought. New parents themselves are welcome too, but the site is designed for the people around them.
About affiliate links
Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. That’s how Dear Arrival stays free to read and gets to keep recommending genuinely good products rather than whatever’s paying the most.
The full policy is on the Affiliate Disclosure page.
Where to start
If you’re here because you need a baby shower gift in the next two weeks and don’t know where to begin, the Newborn Gift Guides section is the right starting point. Most readers find what they’re looking for in under five minutes.
If you have a question about a specific product, or a brand you’d love to see covered, just send me a note. I read every email.
